The Colson Center’s
Philanthropic Philosophy
Our Commitment to You

Because we believe every person is made in the image of God, they are an end and not a means. We will prioritize relationship building before fundraising. We will invest in those the Lord brings into our orbit, whether or not they ever give.
Because we believe that we and our investors are on the same side of this cause, working together to advance the Kingdom of God, we will not treat fundraising as selling. Rather, it is an invitation to invest in holy and important work, and to further develop trust and faith in God.
Because we believe that God ultimately brings our success and guides our failures, we will always be honest, open, and truthful. Investors in the ministry have the right to…
- Know how we came to know them, what information we possess about them, and how we received any and all information.
- Know how the funds of our organization are being spent.
- Know the overall financial health and condition of the ministry.
- Know what the programs they support are accomplishing and in what ways they are struggling or failing.
- Know the successes and failure of any and all ministry efforts.
- Know that our organization complies with federal, state, and municipal laws.
- Know that their gift restrictions or designations are being honored by the organization.
- Receive timely and courteous responses to their inquiries about finances and programs.
- Give cheerfully without being pressured by the organization.
- Obtain a copy of our organization’s most recent audited financial statements.
- Know that there is a responsible governing board providing oversight
- to the organization’s mission.
- Know that all appeals for funds are truthful and accurate.
The Colson Center is committed to reflect, in all philanthropic efforts, a recognition of the nature of this relationship with supporters, in alignment with a biblical understanding of trusting in God, every person as made in the image of God, and the meaningfulness of Christ-centered generosity.
